Who Ya Gonna Call?

Mousebusters, that's who. The weather has turned just a wee bit cooler Near Philadelphia and this has brought some of the outdoor population indoors. Last night was Back to School Night and some mouse or another ran across the floor of the Latin teacher's room no fewer than three times. Science Department claims they have one, as well.

We'd been hearing rumors of them for about a week. This morning one has decided my space is his space. I disagree. The Maintenance guys showed up very quickly at my request; they've installed some sort of a sonic mouse-frightener in an outlet and promise to return later this morning with some good old-fashioned traps with a fine Gouda tidbit inserted.

Meanwhile, it's hard doing my work while standing on my chair!

My daughter had a classroom mouse as a resident a few years ago. She doesn't do well with this type of intruder at all either. (I think she adopted a similar perch atop the furniture!) The school trapped it, finally, but her fellow teachers loved teasing her with many mouse-themed goodies for the rest of the school year!

FWIW, best bait is peanut butter. So save the gouda for yourself!

With three cats in the house, I have never seen a mouse. I think they stay away because they know.

Um...ok, I'm kinda laughing here. Mostly because I can picture myself on my own chair -- add a few spiders in and I would be on top of the desk and/or calling in sick!

Yes, we have this problem each year in our garage. The weather turns a bit cold and the mouse traps come out. Thanks for reminding me.

I hate the little beggars. I'd be up on my chair too. Here's hoping the sonic de-mouser works....

But you did find a good picture! When I was a child we had a mouse in the house and it got stuck going back in its hole (ate too much I'm sure!) I remember my father pushing it through its hole with a spoon! Yuck!

I worked in an office once that had an "office rat." And lo and behold the exterminator found it's "nest" under a bookshelf behind my desk! He said the rat was sleeping during the day and must have come out during the night. Ewwwwwwww!

Tell your maintenance guys to forget the gouda - the best bait for mouse traps is chocolate wafer biscuits - like the kit-kat biscuits we get here in the UK - how appropriate using a biscuit that sounds like a pseudo cat!

OH My! You do make me laugh! We had a mouse in the house and guess who left town just as the exterminator came to deliver the mouse trap? Can ya guess who was left at home to clean up the trap after the mouse found the cheese????

I remember one year we had a record cold snap. I work in a really old building and when the really bad cold hit the mice literally came out of the walls. I literally had mice run accross my shoes while at my desk. You would go into someone's office and see motion out of the corners of your eye. We had exterminators come in and set traps. I couldn't abide the sticky traps though. I would throw them away. I want them dead, but not suffering like that!
