Sewing Olympics: The Kiddy Clothing Event

With both "What Was I Thinking?" and "Batik Baskets" all bound, I decided since I had earned a bronze and a silver for the Olympic Binding Event, before striving for the gold, I'd enter another event.

It's been a long time since I made a dress for a little girl. Sherry is 30+ at this point, and I think it was somewhere late in elementary school that we switched to totally store-bought clothing for her. Now I have this precious little granddaughter, and I thought I'd like to resume the practice.

So I entered the Kiddy Clothing Event and last night finished tacking facings and sewing buttons and putting up the hem on this peachy little dress and matching bloomers for Miss Caroline.

We'll all be together in D.C. this weekend, and I believe I'll take it along to give to her there.

I'd say you've earned a score of a perfect "10"!

Very cute outfit. Looks like you have not forgotten how to make little outfirs.
2 10's - one for composition (selecting the pattern and fabric for a perfectly adorable outfit) and one for execution! Have fun at the medal ceremony when you present the dress :0)

A little sigh of envy here from the Nana with rough and tumble boys. It has been many years since I sewed for a little girl (and I even have some leftovers of her fabric!).

Lovely little dress!

That is so cute. I used to make my girls outfits as well, but now that I have a granddaughter I just can't seem to get back into the hand of making children's clothing. I just have too many quilts in process and floating around in my mind.

Oh my! This is lovely. Of course the color speaks to me, the fabric, too.

They all say "happy and sweet!"
I remember making the girls' clothesd until the school dress code was dropped and everyone started wearing jeans. I loved it, but becauase my granddaughters live thousands of miles away I never made them anything.
That's a darling outfit. I see many more in her future.
Oh its so gorgeous. I bet it she will look very sweet in it!
