I kinda figured it wouldn't be long when he didn't attend his sister's funeral a couple of weeks ago.

You know, Nancy, I feel such personal commitment to bearing witness when our great statesmen pass on. I feel it's part of my role as a citizen to watch the news and commentary and through that learn more about the man. But I'm finding it beyond my ability to watch right now. There is a difference between knowing a thing is going to happen and it actually happening.

This chapter closes and apparently I am, at this moment, emotionally unable to take that in. Just making note of it.

Thank you Nancy. Somehow, on this sad morning, I knew I would find a kindred spirit on your blog. Its the end of an era but not the end of Hope.

I had the pleasure of meeting Ted Kennedy while on a Close-Up trip with a group of high school seniors. Mr. Kennedy was gracious and stopped to talk to the group of from Wyoming after Alan Simpson (Wyoming Senator) called him over to where we were clustered on the Capitol steps. I was impressed that he took the time to visit with our group and to shake each student's hand.
