Baskets of Bill, Part Two in a Series

Well, that first basket was getting kind of lonely up there on the wall, so I got to work over the long weekend and made some more.  My baskets are ten-inch size and come from two of the Around The Block books and also from here and here

Some are easier to make that others.  Obviously.

I'm doing something different with these blocks:  I've been pressing the seams open instead of to the dark side.  And I'm liking the way they are turning out by doing this.  Yes, it takes longer.

But I don't care.  I'm having a wonderful time.

Beautiful fabric choices - it's going to be a lovely quilt. I always get a little giddy when I see someone using a pattern I put out there, and you're using two of my original blocks. Woohoo! (Okay, I'm a dork.)

wE are aways taught to press the seam to one side, but when you've got a bunch of intersecting seams all at one spot, it makeS more sense to distribute the fabric better. I did it (am doing it) with one set of blocks from a BOM, and the results are much more crisp & so much less lumpy. I still feel like the quilt police are going to write me up, though.

Those blocks are wonderful. So far my fave is the one in the lower right corner, but they all have a certain je ne sais quoi. What fun to explore an entire realm of basket blocks using such lush fabric. It will be a treat watching the next installments of B o B, the Series. bropf

Say bye bye to your manicure and hello to perfect seams!

I use an old flathead screwdriver to open the seams on the ironing board & to hold them open while pressing. Had to do something to keep from burning the fingers. Of course you could also drink a screwdriver.....
