This quilt was a leader-ender all the way up until the border. Impulsively, I chose to use very low contrast fabrics for the nine-patch centers of the blocks instead of the high contrast the block usually shows. And I'm happy that I did that. I do like the way they look.
I wonder why it is that CWs lend themselves so beautifully to leader-endering. A couple of years ago I leader-endered a Log Cabin as well as a couple of Jewel Boxes (though the Jewel Boxes weren't pure CWs but had some other good stuff mixed in. I've still got a good-sized tub of CW scraps. And I've got a great idea involving HSTs! Soon and very soon . . .

Gorgeous and I just love those low contrast nine patch centres :)
Your quilt is so beautiful! I DO like the way you used the low contrast in your nine patches. I wouldn't have thought to do that and I like the look a lot.
Thanks fr sharing.

It turned out lovely! I do love the low contrast in the 9 patches very much!
Now I have to go to Bonnie's site and get the instructions for this quilt. Love the look of the low contrast center, but have to check out other options. Thanks for sharing.

nice quilt...........
Beautiful quilt, Nancy - and like others I love the low-contrast centres.
Congrats!
It certainly is a lovely quilt!
Excuse my ignorance but what is 'leader-endering'? I have been quilting for close to 10 years but haven't heard this term before...maybe we say it differently here in Australia!

Visit Bonnie Hunter's site for a tutorial on leaders and enders. It's a great way not only use up scraps, but you'll also save a lot of thread.
Just looking back through some of your older posts trying to find something specific and I came across this quilt. I had printed this pattern from Bonnie's website a month or so ago--I've always loved Sister's Choice. But your low contrast idea is beautiful--subtle and interesting. When I finally get one made I hope it will be as nice--and if I post it there will be double credit--Bonnie for posting the pattern, and you for coloration (is there such a word?). Thanks!
