Show and Tell on Saturday Morning

I'm pretty happy with how this Gone To The Dogs quilt has turned out. True, it isn't babyish baby, but the recipient boy-to-be is coming into a family that is smitten with its dog, and experience has shown that the babyish baby stage is all too fleeting.

The backing is pieced and the binding made, so this quilt is ready for its date with the machinist and there will be no trouble finishing before Whoever shows up!

My little batik stars runner is hanging there as a reminder that I  need to make a sandwich and quilt it.

And here is my project from Lori's Quilt Along! I put the borders on last evening and will make the binding and the sandwich today.

I'd love to be hand-quilting this project tomorrow night in front of "Call The Midwife!" and "Upstairs, Downstairs." You do watch those shows, don't you?

LOVE the purple on your quilt a long...I had thought about cheddar, but I just might change to purple and golly, yours is finished and ready for quilting.

I watch those shows when the DVD comes out so I can watch for hours at a time!! I might be assuming something with MidWife but probably not.

Do people really do "baby-ish" baby quilts anymore? I don't think so. No pastel colors--no little bunny and chick prints. This quilt is great and seems right in line with baby quilts today.
I love your Mountain Trail with the purple stepping stones. Nice colors, it just sings to me. I didn't get creative with my color choices. Maybe that is why I have not had the motivation to get it sewn together. Yours has inspired me. I'm going to go sew!

I just love Gone to the Dogs. It's perfect for a little boy. I almost never make babyish quilts. All my "baby" quilts usually serve the kids well through toddler stage and then some.....

Gone to the Dogs is too cute and that border fabric is perfect! Are you sure this quilt will stay with itty bitty Whoever or might some sibling or parent make off with it?!

Mountain Trail is wonderful! Seems to me its name might be Up the Down Staircase - or am I dating myself?

Happy sewing!

I love the doggie quilt - it isn't baby babyish but it's obviously a child's quilt and will grow with the little chap - perfect!!!

Another couple of winners, Nance! I've never done a quilt-a-long, so I was tempted by that one when you linked it. Alas, I decided, instead, to concentrate on my current projects.

Unfortunately, I missed "Call the midwife". Hoping either for DVD on Netflix or a repeat!

As you know, my "standard issue" baby quilt is made of 30s repros in a traditional pattern -- usually 9-patches alternating with plain squares. Works up quickly in a size I can machine quilt myself and provides an old-fashioned look, like it's been handed down from a previous generation. I figure these aren't too "babyish" and can be used even into toddlerhood. If I ever have a young'un that's close to me, I might do something different, but, in any case, I know I'll end up making additional quilts as s/he grows.
