Another Baby Quilt Flimsy

There are thirteen of us who are losing our jobs, just under ten percent of the faculty, staff, and administration combined. Some of us are getting together one morning next week to have coffee and discuss ways we can support each other.

One of them is a woman about my own age who, in fact, graduated from my high school a year ahead of me. I didn't know her then, but since she came to the school we've felt a special ancient history type of connection. She is a school-year-only employee and  is expecting her first grandchild this summer (after sitting by and watching me acquire no fewer than six in the past seven years!). I had planned to make a baby quilt over the summer to give to her when she returned at the start of school in September. I had some jelly roll strips left from the baby quilt I made for Andrea, and I bought some lovely yellow Kona at LQS and this is what I have to show for my weekend. I'll get backing and batting and floss and tie it. The binding is made and hanging on my wall. I'm liking it a lot and

I think

I'll name it

--wait

for

it--

Lemonade . . . .

Just lovely. I know she will love this for her new grand baby--especially when you explain the name to her.

WooHoo! Lemonade! I love it, Nancy--the name and the quilt. Love the splashes of color nestled in that beautiful yellow. I'm sure this will be a very appreciated quilt.

Oh, Nancy!

Your Lemonade baby quilt is beautiful. Its blues and greens fairly dance and glow against the yellow background fabric!! What a happy quilt thanks to your perfect color choices and sewing skills. Applause, applause!

How wise of you folks who are all in the same unwelcome boat to get together to help each other cope. The combined wisdom present in the room will be amazing.

Hugs!

I think it is SO wonderful that the group of you who've been given lemons to deal with can cross-reference and share your experience and resources (intellectual, emotional, etc.) to make the best lemonade ever!

Sending hugs for the journey (oh, and the quilt is awesome, too).

Making (palatable) lemonade requires the addition of a sweetening ingredient. I suspect that each of you in the group will be able to bring some sweetness to the mix. Some may have more, others less to contribute, but no one will need to bring it all.

Beautiful name for a beautiful quilt. I am sure that it is hard for every one of you going through that situation, I hope that you CAN support each other and make some positives (lemonade) come from this batch of lemons. Many hands make light the work...
