He Sees Green, I See Purple

It's almost as though I woke up one morning and found that this flimsy had grown on my wall overnight. I don't recall planning or starting this quilt. I do know that I was piecing nines when someone dear phone to say she needed inspiration to make a quilt in a hurry and I told her 6" blocks with nines. So this quilt is kind of a mystery. It needed to be made -- why, I don't yet know.

Once I had the blocks all up on the wall the way I wanted them, Joe took a look and said it needed some narrow lattice. I wasn't at all sure about that, but he seldom makes a suggestion, so I went ahead and started cutting. I decided if I were going to do lattice I'd just go ahead and do cornerstones (they finish at 1/2") and that led to arranging said cornerstones in a diagonal pattern going down from left to right. It needs a border, and I'm going to let it rest a bit before making that move. If I were going to do it now, I'd try to track down some of that green-background floral (column 3, row c). Himself thinks its a mostly green quilt. I see purple.

All opinions will be considered.

I think the overall color of the quilt will largely be determined by which color you choose for the border. I think it could go either way. And just for the record, purple & green is one of my favorite color combinations!

I really like the narrow sashing - it gives the perfect break between the vibrant patterns - and the tiny cornerstones are delightful!
Oh I see people.
The booze fabric you like is nice but I do hope it is not to bright to take away from the main part of the quilt......
I like the lattice....

I'm with you....I see purple. Great choices adding the lattice and cornerstones, interest without distracting.
I like 3C but I think I'd go for 2F (green) and 5E (purple at dead centre) as border options.

Himself was right about the sashing and you were right to include the cornerstones (tiny but very effective). Why not emphasize green in two borders (top/side) and purple in the other two (bottom/second side)? Same fabric but two different color ways or two companionably different prints.

I see green so go figure! Love this mystery quilt, its colors, its blocks, its narrow sashing, and those wee cornerstones! Have fun choosing a border fabric or fabrics.

Perhaps this quilt needs to be named "Abracadabra" or "Bibbity Bobbity Boo" as it magically appeared! :)

Hugs!

Personally, I see green; but then, I do agree with the masses, the border choice color may well assign the color once and for all. This is very, very nice. The slim lattice is a brilliantly wonderful addition!
