It brings back many memories for me too.Quilting Cornerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14934909168600144138noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27429478.post-78903536037438395992013-04-19T10:51:13.196-04:002013-04-19T10:51:13.196-04:00See? I haven't either, mostly because of my own little OCD desire to start watching from season 1 so I can follow the entire story. Since it's something like season 5 (6? 7?) now, I figure I'll need MONTHS for all the videos, and then only if I devote my screen time solely to MM. (But perhaps this response has said more about ME than about the show...) /slinks back into her quiet corner

Smoking was widespread in the late 60s/early 70s when I "came of age" and I took to the habit all too well! Now that cigarettes have been scrubbed almost completely from entertainment, their inclusion in a "period piece" like MM really attracts attention. Didn't run into the alcohol fixation -- nor the "nooners" -- in my corner of the world, though.
howdidIgetherehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03056673632591015789noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27429478.post-27131269987455812312013-04-19T09:17:44.355-04:002013-04-19T09:17:44.355-04:00We have cable, but haven't seen the show so yo...We have cable, but haven't seen the show so you weren't the last to see it. I had no idea of the setting or plot so appreciate your inclusion of those details.

I became a nurse in 1972 and there was much talk about the hospital being a "Peyton Place" but I pretty much missed that as I married in 1972, too.

Hugs!Barbara Annenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27429478.post-28075527517989193482013-04-18T19:41:37.330-04:002013-04-18T19:41:37.330-04:00I only get basic cable, so I haven't seen this...I only get basic cable, so I haven't seen this show. I worked in a large office building during the early 70's, and from what you describe, advertising wasn't the only place for drinking, smoking and foolin' around. Thanks for sharing.
cindyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
