Checking In

1.    Pick A Petal. The first row of blocks surrounding the center are now sewn! And it was a dickens of a job. The corners of the surrounding blocks aren't actually square and there are many layers. Putting this together took me much of the morning and was accompanied by more than a few bad words. Fortunately, neither Joe nor Lizzy was within earshot. This will get put away for a long time. The next step is to applique and embroider the low volume log cabin blocks, and I don't plan to do that until January, although it will prolly take me that long to prep the applique and get Joe to draw the embroidery on. But there's no deadline.

2.    A new month of Merricks Nth came right on schedule this morning and it's a wonderful one! It calls for eight Drunkard's Path blocks and four small (4" finished) Sawtooth Stars and a single row of 2" finished squares. I will enjoy the work this month.

3.    Very little progress has been made as far as organizing and cleaning the studio. Two boxes of give-aways are in the trunk of my car to go to Ruth when I see her. And some additional organizing has occurred. But, oh, there is so much yet to do.

4.    On a personal note, we're dealing with some unanticipated medical uncertainties at present. Setting that against the backdrop of what is and isn't going on in our country has led to a certain amount of despair. Then this meme came to my attention and it's made some difference. I'm striving to identify and cling to the glimmers. Maybe you need this, too.
