Quilts From Winter 2019: Part Two of Three

This pretty quilt has the unfortunate name of The Pneumonia Quilt. When I was sick, Himself pointed out -- once again -- that I don't cough as much when I sew. I had recently reorganized and purged my stash and come across a package of fat somethings (no longer remember if they were quarters or eighths) and since I'm a sucker for a basket block, I aimlessly began. When I put them up on the wall, I was pleasantly surprised to find there were three different ways to arrange a group of four.

This quilt is a breach of my vow to not make a quilt using only one line of fabric. I admit it. But the mitigating circumstance is the pneumonia. And, of course, the solids kind of help the breach. I ordered the border from the same line; it was hard to find and it came all the way from Utah (Hi, Janet!). Got here pretty quickly, too.

Here are close-ups of the three ways to set the foursomes:

Beautiful and I bet it gives great comfort when you are sick or just resting.

I understand that vow, but this is a beautiful quilt. I'm also pretty sure there is a pneumonia exception to that vow. I especially like how you've set the blocks in different ways, it adds just enough whimsy to the project.

Wizard! Love the block variations and how you've arranged them in the quilt. Well done!

Will you keep this quilt as your Get Well quilt to snuggle under when you or DH is under the weather?

Hugs!

I LOVE THIS QUILT --- like you, I love baskets but I rarely take the time to piece them (not sure why). Having the baskets scrappy and set in different ways keeps the quilt from screaming that it is all one line (all rules are made to be bent once and a while, right?). LOVE LOVE LOVE this one.

I remember when you made this how much I liked the way you set the blocks differently. I remember thinking that the name might keep bad memories associated with this quilt. And I recall wondering about your "no one fabric line" vow--but you explained it in the earlier post, so I got it. This line does not scream "matchy-matchy" like many lines do. And there was the pneumonia factor--who is going to go fabric shopping with pneumonia (okay, maybe I would)?
Hmm, interesting that you found the fabric way out west. Too bad I couldn't have delivered it personally.

I love how the colors are comforting and warm. The name well, the reason sucks, but maybe this quilt can be the chicken soup of quilts.

Wow...love me a basket and I love the way you've turned them this way and that to create the different blocks...the healing powers of stitching in reducing your coughing...

I had to go back to look to see the alternate settings -- that's a good design element. I think my favorite is the "spilled baskets," where all the triangles meet in the center. The soft colors/prints are lovely.
