There have been some unhappy college students this past week.

Apparently there is some disagreement with what our country is doing about a terrible situation on the other side of the world.

College administrations are struggling; they don't know what to do.

There has been some talk of perhaps sending the National Guard to deal with all of this.

Let us pause to remember another similar situation.

Lord have mercy.

Yes, I have been having the same mental pictures scrolling constantly. It looked like Brown University was on the right track earlier in the week.

Oh, yes. I was a senior in high school and my university-of-choice had a major demonstration. My mother was concerned, but by the time I matriculated things had calmed down. I just finished The Women by Kristin Hannah. All the things we didn't know in no small part to the LBJ establishment's PR machine.

You are not alone in what you're remembering/seeing/thinking.

I, too, remember seeing the horror at Kent State when I was in nursing school and hope nothing like it happens now. May peace prevail on earth.

Hugs!

Today is the 54th anniversary of Kent State. For those of us of a certain age, that photo is etched in our memories. This week I am watching two campuses where I spent a considerable amount of time being challenged/torn apart by protests. I'm hoping that on both/all sides humanity and wisdom and cooler heads prevail.
