Post 2752

On May 2, 2006, I wrote the first post for this blog.

I was working at the Quaker school, Sam was a couple of months old, and our boys weren't married yet.

Since then, we've had two major weddings, acquired five -- count 'em -- five more grandchildren, celebrated major anniversaries, experienced some health issues, traveled extensively, changed jobs (more than once!), and retired. And that's not all we've done, but you get the idea.

Now Sam's ready to graduate high school (I'm sure he knows how many days until commencement, but I don't) and next year we'll have one in college, three in high school and two in middle school. Ye gods!

Blogging has brought a richness and loveliness to my life and while I don't write anywhere near as often now, I check the blogs I follow every single day. I have loved being a part of the blogosphere and cherish the friendships that have evolved.

For old times' sake, I think it's time for a give-away. If you're interested, leave a comment below and I'll draw a name on Sunday. If the winner is a quilter, the prize is a fat quarter pack; if a non-quilter, the prize will be determined at that time. And, just for the sake of blogging, please tell me another blog you like to read that you think I should know about.

Wow! That is amazing how much life has been lived since you’ve been blogging. Congratulations!! I’m sure you already know about Jo’s Country Junction, but her blog is full of quilty inspiration as well as a range of other things and it’s one of a couple I make sure to read everyday (the other being The Frugal Gal for her absolutely lovely personality and down to earth perspectives).

Time flies! I love how our lives are like books. Sometimes our book is drama, sometimes comedy, but always interesting. Here is a link to a blog I like https://michelesomerville.blog/2021/03/16/words-become-flesh-on-reading-writing-and-sermon-writing-part-i/

Every morning I make my coffee and open Feedly on my iPad. I follow a lot of mostly quilty blogs and I’m glad you still enjoy blogging. A few of them are: dirtroadscrapper.blogspot.com, Country Threads Chicken Scratch and Stitched in Color.

While I enjoy seeing the fine handwork you do, I especially like your thoughtful posts about aging and caring for others. strawberrypatchquiltworks.blogspot.com is a blog I follow, though right now the author is recovering from an injury.

I too check my favorite blogs sometime during the day. Rogue quilter is a favorite, her small quilting skills are amazing, JulieK is also one, she is a quilting nurse and such a generous person. Always donating to someone in need. Just a reminder today is International Day of Prayer if anyone is checking in early. Continue with your blog, I find it enjoyable. Dotti in CT

I so enjoy your blog. Like others have mentioned not just for quilting but for inspiration of being a better person. I like fun with Barb and attic 24 for blogs. Thank you for blogging, it is always a pleasure to read
Congratulations on this milestone, Nancy. I know how hard it is to commit to writing a blog. Yours has been fun to read. Always thoughtful, funny, and so human. I have no other blogs to recommend. Yours is the only one I read!

Congratulations on 18 years! I enjoy your blog and also enjoy Patchwork Times with Judy Laquidara. She mostly does cross stitch now, but used to quilt and knit. I also like Attic 24, she crochets. I do all of it, so I like them all!

Congratulations for each and every one of those milestones and accomplishments and vacations and retirements and more. I am sure you already read Wanda's and Lynne's blogs . . . what about Maureen at Mystic Quilter? (p.s. I am grateful you count my blog as one you continue to read)

Congratulations on 18 years! I started my first blog in November of the same year. It just doesn't seem that long! Aside from quilting and crochet blogs, also follow Bleeding Green Nation to keep up with my beloved E A G L E S!

I've enjoyed your blog for a long tine, can't remember how I arrived! It's been fun to read about your trips along with your quilting journey and other thoughtful ponderings. Gives me much to think about that I might not have discovered otherwise. As for as blogs to recommend, I like Exuberant Color for her bright use of color and fun designs. Many I have followed through the years have disappeared. I will look through the comments and check out others that I might find interesting. I always look forward to your posts. My life has been a richer one through blogging (almost as long as you) but, most especially, because of you and your lasting friendship! Congrats, Nancy! XOXO

Wow! 18 years is quite an achievement! I come for the quilting and the thinking and I am always inspired by both, so thank you, Nancy. I hope that someday we meet in person at a quilt show near Philadelphia. For qulting blogs, I like Fun with Barb, and for inspiration to de-plasticize my life, I like Zero Waste Chef.
