Boardwalk

Well, it was time to start a new project for hand-work in the evenings. You know that I like hand-work projects that take a long time and I do believe this one will not disappoint in that regard!

This is Boardwalk from Treehouse Textiles in Australia. Oh, how I love Emma's designs!

I'd bought the starter kit from Treehouse, which provides approximately half the fabric needed for the top, and it was very enjoyable to go through my scrap bin to find other pieces that seem to have a similar vibe.

Today I cut all of the elements for the first two blocks. Got them into individual baggies and then thought, what the heck, and went ahead and cut the shoulders for the remaining 23 blocks.

Boardwalk season at the Jersey shore will begin in about two months and run for four. It will likely take that long to piece this big guy. Thinking of The Drifters and their great hit "Under the Boardwalk." I just looked it up and found it was from 1964!

Oh boy, I'm looking forward to seeing this one grow! Now I have the beginning of "Under the Boardwalk" playing in my head.

What a fabulous project! Are the curved sections pieced or appliqued? I'm off to explore Treehouse Textiles >>>>>

You do love a challenge and Boardwalk certainly fills that bill! What a glorious, happy quilt this will be! Isn't in a joy to get to play with Aussie quilters and their fabrics?
Yep, "Under the Boardwalk" is now in my head, too.
I'll be sidelined by the flu for the coming days and now sound like I should sing bass. Bother and bummer.

Germ-free hugs from afar!

That is a beauty of a quilt. You mention how long it will take you to hand piece, and in my mind I'm thinking, "it would take me at least that long just to get it cut out!"
You go, girl!
I do love that song, too. ;)
