First Block Complete!

Well, friends, it turns out that one of the good things about watching the Netflix series "Adolescence" is that by doing handwork in front of it, the first plank in the Boardwalk quilt was done in five -- count 'em -- days! Truth be told, we did watch more than just an hour per evening (currently enjoying The Residence). I think I'm going to like this quilt even more than I'd anticipated!

I follow Treehouse Textiles (the home of the pattern's designer) on Facebook and have bought several patterns there. That's where Bessie came from, actually. Emma is a brilliant designer who writes a very good pattern. Like Jen Kingwell, she's in Oz, and she doesn't seem to be as well-known in the States. Recently I've become acquainted with another Treehouse aficionado and the two of us were thinking it would be fun to have a little private FB group where we could share our Treehouse projects, raise and answer questions, and encourage each other. If this is something you might like to be part of, indicate that, please, in the comments. If this plan comes to fruition, well, my followers will be the first to know!

As I mentioned earlier, I purchased the starter kit along with the pattern and templates, and this first block was completely made with fabrics from that kit. Subsequent blocks may or may not include bits from my stash and it is so much fun to audition elements! Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed making Block #1 (there are 24 yet to go) and am glad this was my choice for a hand-piecing project. Stay tuned!

Some people like low volume quilts, I'm not one of those people. This looks great. Thanks for sharing.

What a great block and love the fabrics!!
I'm at a standstill with sewing as am slowly getting over the flu. Wasn't too awful but will say you better have a huge stash of Kleenex or like product if you have this flu because we've never, ever, had such runny noses. Believe it!

Hugs (no germs!)

I love your block, too! We just finished watching Residence! We loved it! It was engaging and very witty. While we didn't love that f* word being used, we could get past it. We would love to see more tv shows with this kind of intelligence! My husband and I had in mind a couple of suspects but it was still so much fun to watch and so very entertaining!

Today's NY Times Style magazine has an article about the Carl and Karin Larsson house; made me think of one of you all's Scandinavian trips. And this is a great start to you new project.
