Nineteen!

Nineteen years ago today I entered the blogosphere. Several of my quilting friends had created blogs and I enjoyed reading them. This was back when I was working for the Quaker school, I place I liked immensely, but in a position where, frankly, I didn't have enough to do. The man I worked for was new to the school and was self-sufficient; he just didn't know how to use an executive assistant. So I had some time to fill. And blogging was a good way, it turned out!

Here's a link to that very first post. And now I'm at post number 2812. An average of 148 posts per year, with some years being more prolific than others.

My first commenter was Julie, a woman I count as a dear friend, though we've never met! And it wasn't long before I met Mrs. Goodneedle, who I later met for lunch one day when we were [sort of] in the area; and Tanya whose stories of life in Japan are so enriching. And Nicole who I once told, "I wish you lived down the street." And Wanda, truly the most prolific quilter ever. And Chez, who was a superb writer and is gone now (and, alas, so is his blog).  All from that very first year. And many others, as they say, too numerous to mention.

Back in the day, many bloggers would have a give-away on their anniversaries. Anymore, not so much. But what a great thing to do! So, if you're interested, leave a comment below and at the end of the weekend, I'll draw a name and send someone something I've made.

PS: I Googled "19 and Counting" but all I got was Duggars. LOTS of Duggars. Good grief.

Julie was my first blog friend I ever met, and she is now one of my very best friends! Congratulations on your anniversary. It will be 16 years for me in July.

Your post about passing the peace spoke to me as a Lutheran musician. I checked out Stone Yard Devotional from the library and look forward to reading it. Thanks for all the wisdom youʻve shared through the years.

I've not been reading your blog all 19 years but have been reading for quite a few. What drew me in besides quilting was our mutual love of the Phillies! Congratulations on blogging for so long!

Happy Blogaversary! I am so glad I happened on your blog, no doubt from another quilting blogs side bar list as I've enjoyed your blog for many years.
I've put a hold on Stone Yard Devotional at the local library but will have a wait as 9 folks will read this copy before it's my turn.
86*F today with high humidity and high pollen. Sniffle sniff!

Hugs!

Congratulations! 19 years is a lot. I read all your archives this last winter to cheer me up, so those 19 years are a gift that keeps on giving.

Happy Blogoversary! I love reading about your quilting adventures in Lords Valley PA. Hurrah to quilting and PA!
You started your blog 14 months before I started mine, and honestly I wasn't even sure what a blog was at that time. A friend talked me into starting one 7/4/07 since I was only working part time and I missed showing my quilts to others. There are so few of us still posting on a regular basis and I'm so happy to see the ones that do. I'm going to have to go back to the beginning of yours and see what I missed back then.

Your post instantly set me to calculating. I remember coming across your blog shortly after I began mine (which is 17-1/2 years). Time flies, etc.
