Merricks Nth, Month One, Post One

Well, I'm still working on those complicated blocks for Pick A Petal and while the process has streamlined a bit with practice, I needed a little break. Just a little one.

This is Nell Annie and May (no commas) which was my original choice for inspiration fabric for Merricks Nth. I loved it. Still do. However, I couldn't find it on line in the USA; in fact, the only place I found it was at Liberty. Of London. Yeah, that one. And I knew there would be pricey postage and I wasn't sure what it would mean in the way of tariffs, so I started looking for a Replacement Inspiration.

I've been doing a fair amount of business with Intrepid Thread in Texas and decided that would be a good place to start. They have a lot of Liberty (and a lot of William Morris, not that that has anything to do with it).

I was thinking purple. Or periwinkle. And here we have Purley Meadow A which has a bit of each. Also has some of the colors from Nell Annie and May. And it's lighter and airier.

I bought a half yard and it has arrived and it is gorgeous. I like it better than Nell, but don't tell Annie and May. Or Nell.

Now I've gone though my stash and pulled out some things that will go nicely with Purley. And I may have bought some fat quarters along with Purley.

So Himself recently suggested that since there were so many of those Pick A Petal Nasties Stressful Blocks that perhaps I might take just a little break from them. And, y'know. Month One for Merricks has come in the mail. So this afternoon I prepped some of the components. Perhaps I'll intersperse these with the P-A-Ps. Or perhaps I'll just do them. We'll see.

What a cheerful, colorful, and delightful Replacement Fabric you found to use instead of the LoL (yeah, that one) fabric.
Have you ever ordered from eQuilter? They have an amazing selection of fabrics and great sales prices.
Today I'm sewing blocks together for the scrappy Single Irish Chain baby quilt I'm slowly making. Oh, for more energy!

Hugs!

Yes - stitching simple circles is a lovely way to spend some time. I have cut and begun stitching the small diamonds too. We have two days of heat which means I need hand stitching to carry from one shady spot to the next and need to stay out of my over heated - under cooled sewing space. I love your new inspiration fabric.
