Pick A Petal: February Update

With the embroidery complete on Pick A Petal log cabin border, I started working on the applique. I do not enjoy traditional applique; I much prefer the blanket stitch variety. So that's what I decided to do.

The bonding portion gave me a hard time. The stickum stuff on the bonding paper kept wanting to go to the wrong side. I thought this was prolly because my bonding paper was ancient, so I ordered some new. But I still had a really hard time getting the stickum to come to the right side.

This is one of the two short sides of the log cabin border. Today I finished the bonding of the second short side and tonight will begin blanket-stitching. I'm so glad I have the Olympics to help me out with this!

Here are close-ups of side one of the log cabin border:

Just lovely buttonhole stitched applique--that is my favorite also...I think your using the log cabins as the base was inspired...just lovely work;)))

Your applique flowers add another layer of interest to these low volume blocks! I hand sewed binding this weekend and Yellowstone kept me company. I have seen the series several times, but I still like watching it.

Your buttonhole appliqué is marvelous - never feel odd about using it instead of the "traditional" kind. I'm with you on preference.

Using your preferred method of applique on your quilt is just perfect! It looks lovely as do those blocks and the charming flowers. I look forward to seeing this quilt when you have it together ... no hurry!

Hugs!

Buttonhole stitch for the win! I'm with you on preferring to do it instead of traditional applique. These borders exude such a carefree attitude. What's not to love?
