Guild Spring Retreat 2026

This past weekend was my Guild's spring retreat. Due to health issues here at home, I've missed the last several Guild retreats and when Polly asked me to attend this one and be her roommate, I was really happy to be able to say yes.

There were about fifty attendees. Some were working on rather amazing charity quilts, some were finishing their entries for the oven mitt swap, and others were -- duh -- making quilt tops.

I had purchased a FQ pack of Tilda's new line, Poppy Seed and thought I might use them to make a basket quilt. A trip to the LQS yielded several yards of what turned out to be the background. I'd been thinking white, gray or black and when the shop assistant wandered me over to a group of saturated colors, it suddenly became only a matter of which one.

Blue. Rich blue.

While I was so glad to spend this time with Polly and our other tablemates, my new knee was acting up and I had a lot of trouble getting and staying comfortable. Each night I went up to the room rather ridiculously early and read until bedtime. Just getting into a more comfortable chair was wonderful.

I didn't have a goal of how many baskets to make. I still don't. I did manage to make a dozen and they are all different. There's no deadline, so I imagine I'll be making 9" finished Simple Flower Baskets here at home for a while.
