Pick A Petal: March Update

Last month I shared one of the four sides of the embroidery and applique border for Pick A Petal. Since then, working for approximately two hours each evening, I've completed sides two and three and am well into side four.

Two sides are made from four log cabin blocks; the other two are made from six.

I'm having so much fun doing this! The three "completed" sides are just that. There's the possibility that once side four is finished, I'll go back and add more!

I believe that clicking on the photos will enlarge them so that you can see detail.

Lovely borders. I really like using a low volume log cabin as the background for the applique.

Hope you'll excuse me but I'm feeling nosey about your appliqué technique - do you use 2 strands of floss? And do you find that appliqué quilts hold up well in use on a bed vs as a wall hanging?

I'm thinking about starting a project, much less ambitious than this of course.
