Mysteries

It's been a while since I've felt the need to moo. If you're new to this pasture, a moo is a rant by a COW; that is, a Cranky Old Woman (raises hand).

Back in 1998, in a movie called "Shakespeare In Love," someone said, very lightly, "It's a mystery!" Himself and I adopted that line and delight in using it. But not in overusing it.

Currently there are some mysteries I believe I will never comprehend.

Some billionaires who have the means to eradicate hunger or to make a huge step in solving homelessness or sending aid to India or any other massive attempt at helpfulness are instead having a battle over personal travel to outer space. Why on earth would they do that? (See what I did there) They are self-focused and self-important beyond what my brain can fathom.

Then there's The Big Lie. A situation where loyalty to a buffoon replaces intelligence. Enough said.

The Olympics, having been postponed for a year, are to be held despite rising Corona virus rates in an already crowded and overpopulated country. Just when the pandemic seems to be getting under control in many other places. Spectators apparently are not permitted. But what about all of the other people needed to make it happen?

And, speaking of Covid-19, there are still many people who will not get vaccinated. If they don't care about getting sick themselves, I suppose that is their business. But don't they understand that they could carry the disease to others -- to children no yet eligible for the vaccine?

Oh, there are other mysteries, to be sure. But those are my current Top Puzzlements. Perhaps having laid them out on paper will enable me to think of other, more understandable things.

Moo . . . .

I have just changed hair stylists after my now-former one announced last week that she would NOT get vaccinated because she is scared and just doesn’t like doctors. I’m done.

Your moos sound like you have been eavesdropping on conversations between me and my DH!

I join your MOO about those very subjects.

Years ago I read an interesting article that mused about magazine titles that speak to social norms of the day: Life, Look, People, and on down (and I mean down) to the recent Me magazine. I'm sure I missed some of the titles in that article, but you get the gist. Increasingly self-centered and all too sad.

Hugs!

I like to think of all the jobs those billionaires created with the space race, instead of getting upset how the spend their fortunes. I need to think of the positives, or my mind gets cluttered with negatives and negatives breed so quickly in the vast cavern of my mind. That being said, I have some booglements also. Biggest one is current day slavery, human trafficking. I thought we learned from the past. We need to find a way to halt it. Prayer is a beginning. Hugs!

With you all the way on all of the above my friend.

I'm not all that troubled by how billionaires spend their money. By investing in space travel, they are sponsoring science and engineering development, keeping people employed, and giving some people something positive to focus on. That said, I share your concerns about the Olympics - talk about a potential 'super spreader event'! Good grief. And the anti-vaxxers? It's not only themselves that they are putting at risk: if/when they get sick, people working in healthcare will be there to look after them - putting themselves at risk and using healthcare resources that could otherwise be utilised for other patients.
Interesting to read your rant! LOL

My daughter had plans to go to the Olympics so I am glad that they cancelled it for spectators. But getting all those athletes from all over the world together where they can share germs is scary indeed. I ditto your questions on all of these.

I'm going to add one more rant that's a mystery to me. It seems like our elected officials don't know the meaning of compromise or that there is suppose to be separation of state and religion. I'll stop there before I get myself too worked up. MOO!!!

Thank and Bless you - You nailed it. I'm adding my MOOO too.
I keep thinking "It's a Man's World" and wondering why.....
My dear husband says Women Should be running things. We have less ego, less need for power and less need for world domination. It's a dream I know, but a good one.

I has been so long since I've commented on a blog I wasn't sure about signing in. But it took care on itself. I share your MOOS and also wonder about the self centered ness of our society/culture. Perhaps capitalism fuels it, but certainly that segment of church culture which emphasizes personal salvation above sacrifice for the good of others, as well as give, give, give ... and the pastor has wide pockets, hasn't said, Hey, wait a minute, that's not what's in this Bible lesson, but rather has endorsed the me, me, me. Regarding your other post about all your relatives getting together, I say, Hooray! I envy that. As an introvert, large gatherings are uncomfortable, but your relative group sounds just about right. Due to my kids being far, it has been harder to get together with the cousin level of relatives. Blessings!
