Bessie: Bit by Bit
Anticipating having several weeks away from my Bernina, before the knee surgery I prepped a lot of Bessie's blocks to do as handwork during recovery.
The octagons are the most challenging blocks thus far. They take a long time and are fiddly. I've had to do a little unsewing on them.
Joe and I watch some streamed shows most evenings, and I really do enjoy hand stitching during them.
These are some of the "Fingers" blocks Bessie calls for. They are a lot of fun to make. It's funny that I am fairly adept at hand-piecing curves and really struggle with them on the machine.

Insetting those little trapezoids is painstaking.
Despite their complexity, it is rewarding to see one come together.
There are a lot of them yet to go.
