It's Been A While
Oh, dear. It's been a month.
Well, during that month:
--Himself turned a very ancient age and was feted for same.
--Our country has . . . well, let's not even go there.
--We've had some perilous but pretty ice.
--I've developed a loudly complaining hip that doesn't seem to know what it wants but Dr. Bones says it doesn't need replacing. So I guess it's gloating about that.
--I've continued to hand piece my Glitter blocks and have begun to think that once this quilt is done I'll never want to see those colors again!
--I turned the same very ancient age and was feted by friends and by family.
In the quilting department, Jelly is now a flimsy and will be heading to the machinist this week, along with Peanut Butter (finally) and a baby quilt. So in a few weeks I'll be binding, binding, binding. And prolly starting yet another Peanut Butter, maybe greens this time.
A long time ago, back during the Obama years, I thought I'd like to have a red-white-and-blue quilt to put out from May through September, you know, during the bulk of the patriotic holidays. Alas, following that administration, that desire went away and once we were into Biden, I'd kind of become involved in other things. Early this autumn, filled with optimism surrounding Kamala, the idea resurfaced and I actually got started. And then got distracted. This afternoon, needing some hope that someday I'll feel proudly patriotic again, I pulled it out and resumed work.
Except for the goofy heart block, I like this quilt pattern immensely. The fabrics Gigi used are a little bit dignified for my taste, so I'm using a scrappy low volume background and will figure out the borders once the main part is assembled. This afternoon I made significant progress:
And now it's time for the Super Bowl (go birds) so I'll get the dinner started and join himself in front of the screen, hoping to see The Clydesdales and also hoping that there are no "wardrobe malfunctions" (remember that?)
Thanks for worrying about me. I'm okay. Older than I used to be, but okay.
