Offshoots

So, there have been some scraps from the Boardwalk blocks. Mostly not very big ones. But just big enough.

The Boardwalks, you may recall, are of the hand-pieced variety. Fifteen done, ten to go. I've got a plan for the setting of them (a bit different from what the pattern calls for, and happily anticipate putting it all together in about a month.

But back to the scraps. I've been pretty determined to use up left-over fabric that I have from the past several years of projects. So why not start with the remains of the Boardwalks? Supplementing from other left-overs as needed?

This is a paper-pieced pattern. Made in quarters. Each full block wants five fabrics (see why it's so easy to use the Boardwalk scraps?). Each full block finishes at about 7". My sewing studio is close to my laundry area, so I put a load of wash in and settle down with the scrap mountain and the printed papers and -- voila! Usually one complete block per full load. 

I got the pattern here and I have what's left of a ream of newsprint and I'm in business. I may have bought another pattern or two from Blue Hamster. I mean, how cute are they?
