Things Aren't Always What They Seem

Like this block, for example.

Each spring my guild holds a mini-quilt challenge for the members. Usually, it is to make a quilt that finishes at 18" x 18", has a certain percentage of the Moda or Pantone Color of the Year, and a couple of other specific requirements.

I've not entered the challenge in a few years, mainly because I don't have much use for an 18x18 project once the challenge has ended.

But this year was different. We're 18x18, as usual, and must use at least 25% Nocturne, the color of the year. How can one go wrong with purple? Also permitted was the addition of as many other fabrics as desired. Oh, and curves somehow.

Turned into a no-brainer for me; after all, I've just finished 23 out of 25 blocks, hand-pieced, with curves.

So, this is not #24 in the Boardwalk series. Due to the addition of a 2" border all the way around, it looks like a somehow religious version of Boardwalk. But it's not going to be included in my quilt. It'll just hang with its buddies at the Guild show.

Lovely and I agree it looks like something you'd see at church. Perhaps after it hangs with its mates at the quilt show, if you've not found a place for it, you might gift it to your church's office?

Hugs!

How serendipitous! And good to get another use out of the pattern.

Brilliant! And it does have a sacred look to it. ;)
