Blogger is Making Me Crazy

First of all, ya gotta know that I don't speak HTML at all. I can cut it and paste it and change heading content a little bit, mostly by a trial and error method. This has served me well since I started blogging and had a couple of brief consults with Desertsky and Sharon.
. . . .
A couple of weeks ago I had my first major problem (See "Lost and Found") and somehow resolved it. I think the problem stemmed from trying to include a ticker that I'd found that counted down the years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes and seconds, by golly, until the end of George W. Bush's presidency. Figuring that Blogger was heavily Republican, I edited it out. I never was sure whether that caused my problem or not, once it was removed, things settled down template-wise. Until this morning.
. . . .
I am having a heck of a time this morning trying to republish after editing the sidebar. Oh, yes, the dratted sidebar! It all started when I tried to include a new link under the Religion and Politics section. It was a Liberal Democrat's blog. So again I became suspicious. I'm getting a message that reads:

001 java.net.ConnectException: Connection refusedblog/42/60/10/nancynearphiladelphia/archives/ 2006_10_01_nancynearphiladelphia_archive.html

So I'm trying a test post to see if I can make it work. I suppose I can consult Sharon and/or Desertsky again, but oh, how I'd like to figure this out myself. If you're reading this, it appears that I have fixed it. But once again, I've no idea how. Guess it's a good thing I'm persona non grata with the Republicans. We certainly wouldn't want me near anything that has to do with National Security.

Well, Nancy, my guess is that it isn't any new content that you are putting in, but rather something amiss in one of the posts in the archive section. I can't tell if blogger is refusing it or if the ISP is refusing it. I'm glad you joined a ring - it's nice to circle round known quantities rather than those "nasty nexts" in the blogger loop, isn't it?

If you could only hear the language at my house regarding Blogger at a daily basis....yikes! Email his Greyness, he may be able to help. At the very least, he can commiserate with you.

It's not only blogger but some of the software associated with my embroidery machine that can (and does) make me crazy on a regular basis! I can work in a design program, literally for hours, and then for some unknown reason not be able to send it to the machine for stitching out. If these walls could talk... (!)ouch; I wouldn't want to hear a replay.

Whenever i have a problem i ask my grandson or the kid down the street. Life's too short to fight with blogger or any other computer mystery. Solving the trinity is easier.

Somehow I doubt that an inanimate program has political leanings, but I could be wrong. =)

My guess is that it's just blogger. It's a pain in the tush, no matter how you look at it. Sometime this week, I'm switching my last blog to livejournal, where my others are. I'm much happier over there. Some things are more difficult for those who don't know html, though.

That darn sidebar has been a pain in the neck to me since I started blogging. My goal is to completely conquer the mystery of how to post pictures of my quilts in it - I am a long way away yet!

I had a hard time publishing a post because it said I had some problem with the archive like it does you. I haven't changed any other post, so there shouldn't be any problems with the archive. I saved as draft, and today when I tried again, it worked.
