Pick A Petal: Introduction and Center

Well, now that Boardwalk is in the process of being assembled downstairs (no previews!), a job that will take at least another day (or two), I've started work on the BOM that I subscribed to a couple of months ago.

It's a Jen Kingwell design, comes monthly for six months, includes [possibly all of the] fabrics and templates. It's on the pricey side, but, y'know, I'm not paying a lot of attention to that. The first month is the center medallion, and I have to tell you that the examples I've seen and the illustration on the pattern, are super random scrappy. If you've been following me for any length of time, you'll know that I'm much more of a controlled scrappy kind of gal. So I was very picky about the fabrics for that center. I'm pleased with how it has turned out and hope that I'll continue to be pleased as we move along.

Month Two arrived just before I finished Month One, and I spent most of today picking fabrics and cutting elements for twenty blocks that I know as Improved Nine Patch. Tonight I'll start pencil-marking them.

Oh, WOW! This is going to be fun. I had been looking at it but know I'd never finish it, so didn't bother. Glad you are doing it.

That first block’s fabrics are gorgeous together. I have a good feeling about your Pick a Petal project!

I was so tempted by the BOM and will enjoy watching yours come together.

I thought the previous design was a challenge. This one tops it.

Honeygirl, you do choose the most amazingly complicated patterns! Love your first block and that "controlled scrapiness"!!
I look forward to watching this quilt grow and hope some of your very own stash fabrics find their way into this wonderful quilt.

Hugs!

You do love a challenge, my friend, and I applaud you for it.
I'm guessing this is all being done by hand, as you are wont to do? Very impressive!
