Happy Pineapples!
My normal routine has changed since early November. I no longer feel the pull to blogging. I still visit my regular stops, but I leave fewer comments. I just haven't felt as though I have anything positive to share.
Today my darling great niece posted on Facebook about things that are making her happy this day. I followed suit, and that kind of led me back to my blog.
Denise is the Queen Bee this month and she asked for a pair of pineapples. I spent much of today making these blocks for her. It was really nice to focus on something that made me happy.
I've had a rough start to this new year: a family member is ill, three of my girlfriends have had leg/ankle/knee surgery, a young mom has been diagnosed with breast cancer. On the other hand/brighter side, the three girlfriends are showing improvement, I've picked out a comfort quilt for the young mom, and there's been very little snow. Trying to focus on these good things.

You have had a rough start. I feel the same, but for different reasons. Finding happy things can be harder some days than others.
I'll keep you in my prayers.
You really should continue to blog and continue to comment. I have a feeling that your friends are like mine...like minded. Birds of a feather, you know. We need to communicate and share what makes us happy, even if its watching a bird fly across the sky. So many things will lift your spirit when you adjust your mind set.
I love my visits here and hope you will continue to share bits of your life.
xx,
Carol
Wishing your friends, family, and the young mom well. I love the idea of a quilt for this young woman.
I've been stuck in the slough of Despond, too, but today I pulled myself up and out to cut some fabric squares and batting for some mug rugs and have stuck my nose in a quilting book looking for inspiration.
Am also working my way through the 25 year old book "Simple Abundance, a Daybook of Comfort and Joy" that I learned about only last summer. My word is Gratitude. From the front pages of that book:
"... in a time lacking in truth and certainty and filled with anguish and despair, no woman should be shamefaced to give back to the world, through her work, a portion of its lost heart."
- Louise Bogan
Hugs!
this side of the country has also had a bad start to the new year. my fil ended up hospitalized on new year's eve then moved to a rehab where is still resides. the upside, the 3 sons have talked them into moving to a retirement home closer to at least one of them. a neighbor is about to have knee replacement surgery, another friend is stuck in Tucson while the fairly new engine in his VW bus is removed and sent back to the Seattle area for major repair....etc, etc, etc. let's just hope things get better from here.
