Gridlock Begat . . . .

There are a couple of passages in the Bible that are downright dull and deadly reading. They're commonly called "The Begats," which matter a lot if you're heavily into Biblical genealogy. They explain who was born to whom for generation upon generation. I've never cared a whole lot about these expositions of lineage, but this afternoon as I finished up yet another project from the same set of fabrics, it occurred to me that I made my fourth Gridlock quilt and . . .

Gridlock begat a multitude of scraps, out of which came . . .

. . . a real nice baby quilt, but there were abundant scraps remaining and so . . ,

. . . those scraps begat Blur and still there were scraps remaining . . .

and they begat another baby quilt!

And there are still plenty of scraps, but I think I've run my course with this colorway at present. Perhaps it is time to press them and store them according to color, something I've considered for a while but never thought I'd have the stamina to do. Or, more likely, give them away to a scrap collector I'm fond of. Whatever.

And I think I need to look at some neutrals. Or reds and yellows. Or black and white. Or almost anything but teal, violet, magenta, pink and chartreuse!

You sure have been resourceful with these scraps, beautiful quilts!

Totally get the "being over" a color way - been there and done that. Tuck those scraps away in their color families and they'll get to play at some future date.

Good use of those abundant scraps and love your 'begats' reference!

I've gone down a rabbit hole and am making a blue/yellow quilt to donate to any group finishing quilt tops for Ukraine like your group did for the tiny houses for the homeless in your area. Do you know of a group doing that? Thanks for any ideas. I have two borders to sew on, unless I think of more border ideas, and right now the quilt is 44"x64".

Hugs!

I enjoyed your story of one quilt begat another quilt begat another quilt, etc. Thanks for sharing.

Believe me, I know EXACTLY what you’re talking about. Currently I have a Begay series myself! Lovely show and tell, my friend.

LOL--Hubby and I just red one of those "begat" sections in Genesis in our morning scripture study last week. Your quilts have really got the hang of begetting, and they have done it very well, with some help from you. It is a great combo of colors, and if they are out of sight for a time you may actually want to play with them again. down the road.
