Archaeological Find

I've read where other bloggers would write about finding WISPs that they'd put away and completely forgotten about, and would think, "Yeah, right."

You already can see where this is going.

I have rediscovered PPIES (Partial Projects In Early Stages) from time to time, but never anything like this one.

It dates back to our Snowball Period, which (Judy will know for sure) I think was in 2002.

It's all pieced (and look at those HSTs in the border!), machine basted by a now-defunct machinist, and hand-quilted -- I think but I'm not positive -- all except the final border.

Who knew? Certainly not me.

It's made from left-overs from my Civil War Period and may be the one that was called "Rhett Butler Slept Here."

Well, if the Steam Punks get finished during this Period Of Isolation, I supposed this will return to the queue.

So glad you know how to hand quilt that outer border - that one is well worth finishing. Love the name, too.

What a lovely quilt and that HST border is just perfect! How delightful to find it's already mostly finished, too. It's a treasure!

Hugs!

It would be a real shame not to finish this one. Snowballs recurred in 2008/9 too. I made four batik on black quilts arising from one of your 37NL swaps. My "Civil War" stash seems to grow with every quilt I make. I call these fabrics New England fabrics for some unknown reason and the bright fuschias and other dazzling shades California colours . .

Like you, I like to think I have a pretty good handle on WIPS/PPIES and the Parts Department....but occasionally there are some surprises like your Rhett quilt. I do like the snowballs. My CW repro stash is just sitting quietly on the shelf. (Well, shelves. Well, entire bookcase.)

Wow, what a great find! Wonder what caused it to fall into the hidey hole? Love all the colors.

I’ve been finding treasures too— look what cleaning the house and staying at home would provide!
