Half-Way

A week ago, I made myself (and everyone else) a promise that for two weeks I was going to focus on the joy, the hope, the excitement, the positivity that the Olympics bring and on Facebook I would neither post anything political nor be moved to comment on political postings by others. So we're half-way through this period of self-imposed censorship, and here's how I feel about it:

I haven't watched as much of the Olympics as I had planned to, partly because of my low tolerance for commercials and partly because the Simone and Michael news reaches me during the day through social media and I'm not usually one to stay up late. And, of course, there's the issue of my aching back (which is   v e r y   slowly improving).

I've read fewer of other people's political posts, scrolling along at a good speed, knowing that this particular graphic that my friend Pat (whose political position is polar opposite to mine) shared is one of the greatest truths ever:

So, into the second half of the Olympic politic-out I go, being glad to have made this decision, and thinking I just might keep it in place through November!

There have been many fine Olympic images shared this week. Here's one of them:

The Polish cycling team. Did you notice their helmets are mismatched?
 I didn't think so.

I was politics free a while ago and intend to stay that way. In fact, those who post their political views incessantly (and especially angrily) on FB are being unfollowed for the time being. We shall see what happens later in the year.

Wonderful to hear that you are calm and recuperating--however slowly.
My politics are opposite to that of most of my friends, so we agree not to discuss it.
(Somebody help those guys, please!)

Trying hard to follow your example. It may be time to once again delete the FB app from my Ipad.

Helmets? they are wearing helmets?
Politics are so polarizing. I'm 65. I don't remember it being so more than 20 years ago. I like your friends post and it is so true. Terry and my opinion are opposite of his entire family and all of us thing the others are nuts. I scroll through FB looking for anyone who is posting stitching.

We have watched some of the Olympics, but I have been burying myself in a book lately. Nope, I didn't notice those mismatched helmets at all. You are so observant!!

helmets? they're wearing helmets? Glad to hear that you are finally on the mend -- having suffered with back problems for years I totally understand where you're coming from. Only thing worse, imnsho was breaking my shoulder (right side) and being confined to that blasted recliner for months because when I tried the bed, my shoulder would roll out and painful was an understatement. a couple weeks in Steve caught me trying to use a rotary cutter left handed. He promptly hid all sharp sewing tools......
