Swing for the Fences

Nope.  It's not my quilt.  But I wish it were.  Isn't it great?

My coworker, Gabrielle, bought herself a sewing machine and she and her adorable daughter have become self-taught quilters and bag makers.  Golly, they'll be tailoring suits if I look away!

Swing for the Fences might be Gabrielle's first "real" quilt.  Or perhaps her second.  It's made out of flannel, and she made it for her son.  Who doesn't sew.  Yet.  I'm darned impressed.

What a great "guy" quilt. They are off and running with a bang!

What a cozy quilt! I'll bet it's super warm. I love the stocking-feet-in-the-snow as well.

It's great when your first (or second) quilt turns out so well and is something that will keep you warm for years to come. Kudos to Gabrielle and her daughter!
I am so attracted to plaid at the moment so this quilt is really hitting that spot with me. Well done!

It even looks toasty in a miniscule form on my iPhone! Had to go check it out in normal size and I gotta say, that's one lucky guy getting this first quilt!!!

Thanks for the post and all the positive feedback (and to Nancy for her gentle encouragement as I've tackled learning how to sew).

I have to say that the best part of the whole project was was making something special and unique for someone I love!
