Remembering Bob

I don't know about you, but I often will get caught up in a "woe is me" kind of status -- you know, when the vacuum cleaner and the toaster break on consecutive days and you drop your toothbrush in the toilet and find that the milk has gone sour.  All at the same time.  And sometimes this goes on for a couple of weeks.  Joe and I will say to each other, "Well, we haven't had one of these spells for a while. I wonder how long it will last."  And then when there is a day that is stressfree and beautiful and things are going well, I will fail to notice.

Today I awoke on my own (without the alarm clock), pulled on my sweatshirt, and went outside and walked 2-1/2 miles.  After breakfast and shower, I got to thinking about my dear late brother-in-law, Bob, who was fond of singing, "Oh, What A Beautiful Morning!" on some of the least likely days.  Yesterday was his birthday; when he was alive, the four of us used to go out to dinner on the guys' birthdays.

So, perhaps in Bob's honor, I'm humming "OWABM!" today as I realize it really is a beautiful, crisp autumn day and there are all kinds of glorious possibilities for it.

I just took a break from "Good Morning Starshine" which is just about ready to be assembled, and now find that song going through my head.  I never heard Bob sing it, but he prolly would have if he'd known it.

That star quilt is stunning! And I want one too... :D Do you suppose those kinds of Murphy's Law days, which most of the time run into weeks around here, are due to something carried in the air or water? :/ I seem to have them quite frequently. :0 Bob sounds like the kind of guy I would have really enjoyed being around. :D

There is no better compliment than to say that they stay in your heart and make you sing.

Those stars are spectacular.

We must have been connected this morning. OWABM was the song in my head this morning too. I'm still smiling.

Thank you for this post. It is a great morning here too: chilly but sunny. I will go for a walk as soon as i finish this comment and enjoy the fact that I'm still here able to enjoy and feel the sun on my face. So many relatives, my sister, parents, friends have passed away too young, too early. Your post made me sad but so very gratefull about all the good things i have. I can handle a Murphy's Law attack;it's not important compared to life!

Love, love, love these stars. What is it about the simple, traditional blocks that often make the most lovely quilts? bob may be gone, but certainly not forgotten. Every now and then certain things will trigger memories of people long gone but never anything so dramatic as a song. What a great way to remember a special person.

What a beautiful quilt - a happy quilt! Unfortunately, I think we've all gone through spells like that dealing either with illness or troubles. Now I have that song stuck in my head and I hope I remember it the next time I'm feeling like the world is getting me down.

I love that quilt. Were those from the swap blocks? Bob sounds like a great guy.
Not only is the quilt lovely but so is the name. Bitty bop boopy. (I assume you know where that is from since you know the name of the song).

Thank you for the reminder to be thankful for when thinks are going well, not just to complain when they are going not-so-well.

Oddly enough, my WV word is whine!

Sadly, I never knew Bob, having first met his wonderful wife a couple of years after he died. However, she talks about him with such love that I can just tell he must have been a great guy. He looks like SUCH a nice man in the picture of him she has on display.

So....happy birthday to Bob, who is clearly remembered with great love. I raise my morning teacup to you!
