1500

1500 posts. My, oh my. When I started this little blog back in the spring of 2006, I was doing it as a kind of journal for myself, and perhaps for my family. Which it still is. But it has become much more than I ever would have imagined. I've "met" the nicest, funniest, kindest, most generous people through the magic of internet blogging. And so I truly celebrate this 1500th post.

I'm SO enjoying my shorter summer work hours, which come to an end next week. Last evening I worked on three totally different projects. First I cut and attached the borders to my dresden plates quilt. So it is now officially a flimsy and will go on the pile of quilts to be quilted someday. I'm thinking that this one is asking for me to hand quilt.

After dinner I worked on my little people blocks -- Several months ago Lynn posted a photo of a most magnificent quilt called An Extravagant Welcome that inspired some of us to start up a swap of little people so we could make similar quilts. Uncharacteristically, I delayed making my blocks and had been worried about having enough time to get them finished. I need a total of 70 blocks: Seven each of ten different people. I was relieved to find that they go more quickly than I'd anticipated, and as of now seven little girls in pink dresses are waiting for friends. I imagine photos will be posted within days. Lynn so generously provided very detailed instructions on how to make the blocks; I didn't have a bit of trouble with this first set.

Finally, while I caught up with an hour or so of Olympic track and field, I hand-stitched binding on a mercy quilt; again, photos soon.

As promised, there is a giveaway involved with this post. I have a brand new copy of the debut issue of Generation Q magazine, as well as a yet-to-be created personalized mug rug waiting to go out in the mail on Monday. As always, please don't post links to this giveaway on your blog -- it is not designed to be a traffic generator, but rather a gift for one of my regular followers. Leave me a comment including one thing that would make your mug rug personal for you. I'll draw a name on Saturday . . .  Thank you for finding my little blog worth a few moments of your precious time.

Congratulations on your 1500th post! It's been a pleasure "knowing" you, Nancy, and I love reading all of your posts, no matter what the topic. Thanks for the chance to enter your giveaway, but don't put my name in the draw. I am already the lucky recipient of a wonderful bag from you, so let someone else enjoy this time! Keep on blogging!
That's a lot of posts!! I have no idea how long I have been reading your blog but I am pretty sure it goes all the way back to when I started reading any blogs at all. I was drawn to your blog for several reasons, those being "Lutheran, woman, quilting, liberal". I continue to read your blog for those very same reasons and your wit and those occasional C.O.W. posts that say the kinds of things that I think! It was such a great pleasure to actually meet you and participate in a couple of retreats with you. I look forward to reading the NEXT 1500 posts! (Please don't put my name in the hat - I am looking at the mug rug you made for me which is prominently displayed on my desk!)

It is amazing that we don't run out of things to say! lol Congrats on 1500 posts!!
My mug rug would have to have a little something in there about coffee. I'm hopelessly addicted!

Congratulations on being a faithful blogger 1500 times! I have been a faithful reader for several years. Although I don't always agree with you, I always value your opinions. I'm amazed by what you accomplish quilt-wise while holding down a job. If I should be the lucky winner I would like my mug rug to have an "S" on it.

Wow, 1500 posts is sure a milestone! I'm so glad I found your blog. I would choose a brightly colored mug rug! Thanks so much for having the giveaway!

I've been reading your blog for several years and enjoy your comments both about quilting and not. Your writing style is fresh and insightful. Keep it up and congratulations. My mug rug would most likely be fruity and it could be either meaning.

Congrats, Nancy, on such a huge milestone! I've only followed you a little over a year, but that is how long I have been blogging. You were collecting C.O.W. blocks when I first found you.
We have shared some meaningful things that have made me appreciate you for more than your quilting skills and ability to express yourself.
I already have a mug rug made by your hand. It sits by my computer and provides a nest for my ever present mug of water. I would feel greedy having another, but I think a winner would appreciate a mug that had a cow on it, reminding them of the giver. : )
By the way, your Dresden Plate flimsy is truly gorgeous. The unexpected dark background and light sashing is very striking, as are the warm colors. Great job!

Congrats on your milestone! So nice of you to have a giveaway. I'm a tea drinker - more than a few cups a day. I've been meaning to comment about your lemon orzo recipe - love it! I've made it twice. It's a terrific, fresh summery dish. Thanks again.....piece.

1500--wow, what a milestone. Thank you for sharing so much with us. My morning wouldn't be complete without a dose of your wise words or a peek at what you've been creating lately. It's nice to know that there are others out there who share my views on politics, religion etc. Arlo says for my mug rug you would definitely have to put something with dots/spots in it....

Congratulations on the milestone. It would be a great way to start the day, seeing the mug rug and being reminded that lovely people like you are out there.

Love your quilts and I frequently get inspiration for my own. Thanks. Blogging is hard work and I appreciate the effort you put in to it. Thanks.
it would be my name on it! that's pretty personal enough...congrats on this milestone

An amazing journey! So glad I've witnessed it for the last four years I've been in blogland. Your generosity in encouraging me as a new blogger has stuck with me and I try to pass that along to other newbies joining this great community!

Hmm, personalized mug rug...well, I love your C.O.W. posts a lot so that would be great!

Congratulations, Nancy, on reaching such a milestone! I enjoy reading every post: your quilt posts show much to be admired, and your "thinking" posts always stay with me through the day. Thank you for sharing yourself with all of us in the blogosphere. My mug rug would be for a C.O.W who drinks tea! I will be staying tuned to read the next 1500.

What a huge milestone! I don't blog nearly as often as I'd like, and to see you having posted so many times puts my efforts to shame, lol! A personal mug rug for me... would probably have something to do with cats. Or maybe sharks. But not both, because that would probably end badly for the kitty involved. ;)

Nancy, I look forward to your posts. I wrote to you when my son started at Drexel and reading about your Philly centered life helps me to feel more connected to him. You know how boys are about calling home! Congratulations to you and keep on blogging. =)

The Dresdens are fabulous, as is your enduring, entertaining, enlightening and erudite blog I was not interested in those little people at first, but now they are calling, however faintly. Will check them out!! Congreats on the milestone post!!

I have really enjoyed your blog and I have no idea how I found it. Have enjoyed your recommendation of Joe and that has been an interesting blog as well. My mug rug would incorporate flowers in some way. Keep up the great writing!

I am glad to read your purpose in blogging....sometimes I think every blogger should stop and remember why they blog. Some peeps get lost in the do every thing momentum. Of course the record for your life tends to make good reading and yours is no exception. Lime green would make a mug rug mine!

1500 posts! What a wonderful milestone. I'm only just approaching my 200th. I so enjoy reading your perspective on issues. I would love anything done with a C.O.W. connection.
Oh, your blog is "worthy" alright--I check every day for a new post. And, I use your links at the bottom of the page to visit those blogs too.

If I were to win a mug rug, I would like a cow on it! Normally I am the rabbit person, but cows run a close second, and I figured with your COW posts, and the blocks that I've seen on your blog, that cows are something that you and I have in common, and it would remind me of you.
What an amazing accomplishment, nancy. i was attracted to your blog because I grew up in Spring City which is up NW of Philly. Near Philly drew me and here we are. Fifteen hundred posts later-wow. I would love a calico cat smiling on the mug rug if I am lucky enough to win it. I think your work is really talented and I have fun looking at your pictures too of the familiar landscape-it triggers synapses from long ago.

Wow, 1500 posts! I love reading about your family, your quilts, your faith. Your blog inspires me greatly, and I look forward to each of your projects. (Love the Dresden plate. It is gorgeous.) Keep it up, Nancy!

As for the mug rug, my cubicle is gray and blue.

I've been reading your blog for about 6 months and I, too, must say that I was pleasantly pleased to read you were a Lutheran, woman, quilter and Liberal. I've many times felt like teasing you that I'm also Swedish and I live in Minnesota, a fantastic Liberal state! I enjoyed your trip pictures very much. but anyways, I would love to win anything and if I do I think the mug rug would have to say something about being Scandinavian. Thanks, Sue
Wow, Nancy! 1500. Congratulations. I started in 2005 but have many less posts. I am a lucky recipient of a batik jelly roll from you a while back so let someone else enjoy.

Congratulations, it's quite a milestone. I hope I'm able to last as long.
I've checked out Lynn's post and the block is adorable.. I'm sure the quilts will be wonderful. Lots of possibilities.
A mug rug for me would have lime Green and polka dots.

I am in awe of quilters who can sew, work and still find time for blogging. Thanks so much for sharing all of this with us. I discovered your blog a few months ago, and feel such a connection to you, as we both live near Philadelphia, and seem to share many of the same points of view on life. I would love a bright and happy mug to remind me of you and your blog when I use it.

I have been reading and enjoying your blog for several years. Keep up the great work! My mug rug would incorporate shades of teal, my favorite color.

Many, many congratulations on reaching SUCH an impressive milestone! I have followed your Blog pretty much from the beginning and have SO enjoyed the ups and downs.

Your quilting projects have often inspired me (basket blocks come to mind!) and I am especially grateful for your ability to share some of your ponderings. The ability to "open a window" into what you are thinking is rare - and special.

I have been lucky enough to win one of your generous give-aways before, so don't think I should put my name in the hat this time.

I have so fallen behind on my blogging-mostly due to picture issues I am having. Congrats on your achievement. Glad you are enjoying your summer. I so enjoy following your blog. I think flowers would personalize a mug rug or perhaps a cow.

Wow 1500! Congratulations...both on your 1500 and on getting the Dresdans to a finished top before the Olympics are even finished!!! So glad Chooky gave me your name for the SSCS last year, have enjoyed reading your blog and the varied and interesting subjects you chat about along with your quilting. On to the next 1500!!!
A personalised mug rug...oh too hard...something that was reminiscent of the maker, that would be you!
Oh my goodness the verifications are illegible...OK here goes, hope it believes I am not a robot!!!
