Tulips and Windmills: Kinderdjik
The afternoon we spent in Kinderdjik was one of the absolute highlights of our trip. A UNESCO World Heritage site, home to multiple functioning, inhabited windmills, is just lovely.
Viking offered a few different options for visiting the windmills; some people rode bicycles and many walked. Joe and I opted for a trip by vintage barge up the canal and back. We got to visit the inside of a historic (a little museum) windmill. Most of the other windmills are occupied by [small] families who are paid a nominal sum to operate the mill.
We just loved it. We felt like we were in another world. Well, we were!
There isn't a lot more to say about Kinderdjik; but there is a lot to share in photos.
