Sad Face, Happy Face

As it turns out, I should not have eaten those wonderful scallops last night. Six hours later, I was very sick. So now I am worrying about my plan to try clams next week and oysters the following week. And wondering if the success of last week's mussels was some kind of a fluke, you should pardon the expression.
. . . .
On the other hand (when the first hand has not been mentioned, I know), the afternoon and evening hold wonderful things!
. . . .
First, we are going to Sherry's for dinner and will enjoy Sam's company. It has been two weeks or so since we last saw him, and she tells us that he has some words now! I have some things I picked up for him last weekend in Cape May -- a white tee shirt with a Noah's Ark drawing that turns colors in the sunlight and a nice little book about a hippopotamus and a turtle who became friends.
. . . .
Second, our friend Sharon arrives this evening to stay until Tuesday morning. She is about the only classmate from seminary that I still have much contact with. We met sitting next to each other on the first day of Greek and have shared many experiences and insight. Sharon serves a congregation in Rutland, Vermont, and we've not been together in two years. And she's a quilter!

Oh, sorry you were sick! I can't stand that stuff anyway, but eating it and getting sick must have been a disappointment! Maybe your forays into seafood need to be farther apart?

Have a great time with Sharon!

Rats!!! I'm sorry about the reaction. Better be really careful, you don't want to trigger an anaphylactic reaction.....trust me on this. Greyhair had one and it is not pretty.

Have you considered being allergic to sulphites? Take a look at these sites for some help (if you haven't already become versed!)

Oh dear... Sorry that you were so sick. My family (except for me) seems to be allergic to avocados though it took them the longest time to figure it out. Do be careful!

Oooh, sorry about the scallops. Guess I shouldn't tell you about the wonderful Lobster we had thanks to the local Lutheran church's fundraiser this weekend. I'm not a huge seafood/shellfish fan, but every once in awhile...

Have a great time with your friend, isn't it great when good friends come to visit AND they not only understand the need to quilt, they share it?

What a shame that your reaction has returned, I am sorry to hear that; I know-- not as sorry as you are. I know how much you will enjoy spending time with Sam, the shirt sounds adorable and how much fun he'll have checking that out! I am so ready and eager to read books with a little grandchild of my own... one day... Enjoy time with your friend, one of my best friends lives in Proctor, VT... Sharon will know well where that is!

When Andrew and I went to Cambodia, we pantomimed to native speaker that peanuts make andrew die (imagine us doing a hands wringing his neck-death interpretation). Everywhere we went, we showed the card that was kindly printed for us in Khmer. All the waiters laughed. Finally, at the end of the trip we asked someone who spoke English well to translate. It said: "I can't eat peanuts, they make me sick in the neck." Too bad our card won't help you in Greece:(
