Just a Couple of Moos

It's the COW (Cranky Old Woman) here, with just a couple of annoyances to report:

. . . calling Bank of America about a credit card issue, being put on hold for 5 minutes and 48 seconds (yes, the telephone has a second counter on it), listening to short bursts of loud, unpleasant music interspersed with marketing messages, before finally being connected to a customer support rep who was considerably less than cordial
. . . the woman ahead of me in the 15-items-or-less lane yesterday who had 27 items in her cart
. . . marketing people who call the school and asking for the head by name (and often a garbled version of his name), demanding to talk directly to him about products they are selling. One of them this week told me, "We are required to speak to the head of school." Well, honey, I'm not required to let you do that. Another: "It's our policy to deal directly with the head." Guess what -- we've got policies, too. I could never be a sales person.
. . . companies who waste paper by sending me one catalog per week
. . . similarly, companies I deal with on the internet who send me too-frequent emails asking for more business. I mean, like really, who needs to buy dishes three times per week?
. . . parking lot rudeness at holiday time -- oh, peace and joy to you, too!

Okay, with that all out of my system, I get to the real business of the day: To say how thankful I am that a few years back "with just a bit of trepidation" (as my "About Profile" used to say, this sixtyish wife, mother, grandmother, Lutheran, thinker and quilter entered cyberspace . . . . and oh, the friendships she found there! Thanks to all who visit, who read, who comment, and who return. Thanks to all who blog wonderful blogs that enrich my life. And thanks, especially, to Frank, whose thoughts and poems touch me so deeply. If you haven't see his new blog, you might want to.

Blessings to all this Thanksgiving.

We have so much to deal with in our daily lives, that unnecessary things stretch our patience to a point where its not meant to go. Marketers don't seem to understand when enough is enough these days.
I am thankful too, for all the wonderful blogs out there. Especially yours!

Well you certainly hit the nail on the head with some of the items on the list, grrrrr!
How about adding people who are rude to Salvation Army bell-ringers. You don't have to give, but you could at least share a smile, they are out in the cold trying to help others who can't help themselves.
I am sure I could think of several more, but will let it go for another day, grin. BarbM

I've decided I'm a CALF....Crazy as a Loon Female....We just came from the grocery...that's all I have to say about that one....and I'm also a little bummed the post office said they'd be opened today.....and changed their hours at the last minute and closed at noon.

Blogging opened up a whole new world to me and it is available 24/7 for when I have a large block of time to wander thru or just a couple of minutes....blessing to you and yours Nancy....and I had to chuckle over your marketers who insist on speaking with the Head...I deal with people all the time who MUST speak only with the CEO ......fortunately for him and unfortunately for them they get to speak to me first...LOLOL

word verification: risten.....listen with a speech impediment?

Don't sweat the small stuff -- there's too much good out there to let the evil forces wear you down.

I'm going to find just the right bovine image and embroider a C.O.W. shirt. You are a genious. I do like C.A.L.F., though....

Off to check out Frank's.

When they want to speak to the head you could flush the toilet for them...

I agree with your Moos. I am certainly feeling like a COW these days also - especially at the post office. How can they only have one person working when there are 10-15 people in line.

I work at a quilt shop and I always tell salesmen that the owner isn't there - even when she is standing next to be. You can't believe how many calls we get to switch phones services, etc.

Greetings from Albany, Western Australia. Had to tell you about my daughter who is a PA in a small business. When she gets phone calls asking for the boss and she is sure it is one of those annoying salespeople, she tells them that he died and then starts crying!!! I think it's priceless and she says it helps her get through the day. regards

Thanks for the communal giggles at your moos. Add to that the folks who are MORE focused on the cell phone conversation/cigarette puffing than their driving!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
I just found your blog and I feel like I already know you. Thanks for a fun, entertaining blog. I love the COW idea as well. You are a cutie.

I have to keep reminding myself that this is the time of year to try really hard to be patient ... and never go near the Mall! I work for lawyers and you have no idea how often I get calls from people who try and act as though they've known the lawyer for years or tell me he/she said to call them (even tho the attorney is out of state!) What is worse is having them call me "sweetie" or "honey" - SERIOUSLY? they think that will help their cause!?!
