Lest We Forget

She's been uncharacteristically ordinary of late, our Sarah, doing next to nothing even slightly mockable. I don't know what this is about, and prolly Helen doesn't either.

But, in one of the finest pieces of writing I've read recently, Matt Taibbi reminds us of just who this woman really is and what we should keep in mind as she readies her campaign. You can read it in its entirety here.

I think my very favorite part is the line that says, "Nobody understands this . . . quite like Palin, even if she doesn’t actually understand it in the sense of someone who thinks her way to a conclusion, but merely lives it, unconsciously, with the unerring instinct of a herd animal."

Is that splendid or is that splendid?

Thanks for the link. I gotta say the shot of Sarah winking raised the hair on the back of my neck!
Thanks for introducing me to Helen & Margaret's blog. What a hoot. I agree with Suzan...that pic of Sarah makes me cringe. I have friends who think she is the hope for America's future....if so, just shoot me now!

My favorite line was:
The other America doesn’t read and doesn’t remember anything it didn’t learn in the last five minutes; it’s angry and unhappy but doesn’t want to think about why, and knows only that it wants someone to pay the price for what it feels.

So true, so true. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent piece! Thanks for bringing it to our attention. My fav line: "This amazing gaffe reminded everyone of what we might have to look forward to in 2012, when the Republican Party may well nominate a woman who would lose at Trivial Pursuit to a Chilean sea bass, who makes George W. Bush look like Sir Isaac Newton."

Be afraid, be very afraid.

Thanks for the link. Matt Taibbi said it very well. Another blog I like to read to stay "up" on the SP news is: http://www.themudflats.net/

It just amazes me that people actually think she's qualified to run for the presidency!!!!!!!!!

I have a blogger friend who thinks the world of Sarah Palin.... Ofcourse, being Dutch makes me an outsider but during the presidential election days she was on Dutch tv frequently and I must say: are there really Americans that thought she was the answer?? I think we all are better of with Obama! Perhaps Sarah should consider quilting..:)

Ok, I'm a Republican, but please please please don't let this woman represent us. I could never understand why she became a vice-presidential candidate. If you want to make history by putting a woman out there, pick Rue Paul, pick Marge Simpson, but for God's sake don't pick Sarah. Talk about a death wish.

I'd only have to go 75 miles to move to Canada if she got elected. I could be a proud ex American.

Funny, the word verification is rebol which is almost right.

I still think that McCain chose her in order to lose the elction - overestimating the intelligence of the American voter. He must have been shocked that anyone voted for his ticket. I think he knew what a mess his party had made and decided to let a Democrat deal with it.
It was as cynical a choice as Bush I chossing Clarence Thomas for the Supreme Court. You want an African American or a woman? Here ya go! Cynical and/or clueless.
