Among the Missing

I got up earlier than usual for a Saturday.  I had Big Plans.  It was National Quilting Day, remember, and my first event was a trip out to a fabric store.  I wanted to get a load of laundry done before leaving.

When I got downstairs, I saw that somehow, the back door had not closed all the way from the night before.  It was open about five inches.  I put the towels in the washer and put some cat food in Bo's dish.  And he didn't come running expectantly.  "Uh-oh," I thought.  I went out back and looked around and called, but no Bo.

It's been 48+ hours now, and not a trace of him.

Bodacious has never been the brightest bulb in the lamp.  He may have wandered outside, lost his way (since he's never been out before), and was unable to get home.  Perhaps some kind lady invited him in and he liked her style.

Or, he may have seen this as his opportunity to leave us.  His life hasn't been spectacular since Blackberry came to live with us.  Bo is a very private sort of a guy and not really one to come when called and unless he's really cold, not one to snuggle up with a person.  Blackberry has found him fascinating and it seemed as though they were coming to an understanding.  But, quite possibly, Bo had just been mad as hell and not going to take it anymore.

We're hoping he'll return.  I put some cat food outside on Saturday afternoon and this morning it was gone.  Could have been a raccoon or a neighborhood cat.

Or it could have been Bo.

I'm sorry, Nancy. We had an office cat where I used to work and one of the guys accidentally let her outside. There was just too much interesting stuff to see out there. It's hard not to know. I hope Bo comes back soon.

It's a good thing Blackberry doesn't have opposable thumbs cause he would be a suspect in the "open door caper"....

Hope he finds his was home soon..

Will definitely be on the lookout.
Several years ago we had Liz, a cat who got disgusted, too many other cats around, and moved down the street to a kindly neighbor who thought we were jerks. Liz passed away and neighbor moved, but we always knew Liz had a home where she was more appreciated! Neighbor probably remembers us as jerks!

I feel for you. My oldest can be trusted to stay in the yard, but that doesn't mean she doesn't head off for a change of scenery every now and then. She always comes home, but that doesn't relieve my anxiety one bit. Sometimes I get in the car and go find her, for peace of mind. Prayers for Bo, and for you. May his outdoor excursion lead him home soon.

*dislike* Praying you will be killing the fatted mouse soon when the prodigal cat returns.

This is so difficult and stressful. One summer years ago our disappeared. After a week I'd decided she was never coming back. Then one night, after ten days, I heard mewing at the front door and there she was, filthy and emaciated. We decided she must have snuck into somebody's garage when they went on vacation.

(Should I ruin the happy ending by saying she disappeared for good a year or two later? Probably not, huh? But we do still have her fifteen-year-old sister.)

I DO hope he shows up. I had a cat who was trapped in a neighbors crawl space for 4 days. He was never interested in roaming after that incident.

Please come home "Bo" you are missed, even Blackberry misses you (I'm sure)! Here's hoping by now your furry friend has returned!

I hope Bo finds his way back home soon. I would be distraught. I'm going to go hug Shelby now.

Oh, I hope Bo returns! It's a big big world out there and ever so much more comfortable in than out of doors.
