Jungle Song

I don't know whether "Jungle Song" was Laurel Burch's first fabric line or not.  I do know that the minute I laid eyes on it I wanted to play with it, to sew on it.

Golly, this must have been eight [or more] years ago!

I organized a block swap and had many eager participants.  I've made and given away two quilts from that swap's yield and last night I took the last eight blocks, made one more, and started putting them together.  I'm going to need a quilt for a baby boy in a couple of months, courtesy of my great-nephew and his wife.  The snakes will be the border.

There are still several FQs and half-yards of fabric left!  I'm pretty dazzled by the "Irish Chain" in Emily Cier's book "Quilt Remix," and am thinking I might give it a try.  Using these Jungle Song left-overs.  Wouldn't that be wild?

I have always loved the saturated color of Laurel Burch's fabrics. This will be darling in a little boy quilt.

When I first got back into sewing and started quiting, Laurel Burch's fabrics really stood out from the other fabrics in the shops. Paula is right in that a lot of it has to do with the saturated color, but there is also a whimsy that is ever so appealing. Those snakes are just wonderful. What fun you will have stitching them up, and what a charming quilt for a young man.

I still have my blocks in one of my UFO boxes! What a great idea to use them for little boys! I now have 1 grandson of my own and 2 that I'm a Nana by choice to! What a fantabulous idea!!! Thanks!

I just finished a baby quilt for a boy, using a checker board 8 X 12 pattern. I made the Jungle Song quilt from the pattern by Nancy Mahoney in 2009 and wanted to use up the left overs. I was just looking online for fabric to use as a border!
