Covid-19 Construction (2)

The arbor construction seems to be finished, with trellis on the sides for the hyacinth beans to climb.

Here we have Himself putting the finishing touches on a pair of interior seats that he thought some of the grandchildren would enjoy.

You can see the beans in this photo. They were planted scarcely a week ago and look at the size of them already. They are so energetic that we can almost watch them grow.

They are sometimes known as cow beans at our house. This is because during one discussion of the Jack and the Beanstalk story one of us got a bit confused and claimed that there was a cow -- not a giant -- at the top of the beanstalk. There is a cow in the story, but she's at the beginning. Whatever.

Here's a close-up of one of the little seats.

In other wood-working news, we discovered a huge box of old wooden cars, trucks, trains, and I think even a fire engine down in the basement. They were from a company called Montgomery Schoolhouse and were purchased about 40-some years ago for our children. They are all beautifully made of unpainted wood and some of the grandchildren enjoyed them for a time. Now everyone is too big.

Joe spent some time cleaning, polishing and repairing the vehicles and later this week they will be shared with a dear friend who happens to be the father of a small boy.

And yes, it was me, who was confused about the cow.

Wonderful arbor and well done for adding those seats! Your beans will be very happy there, with or without a cow. :)

Isn't it a joy to have a handy husband? I have one, too.

Hugs!

FUN post - terrific trellis for those lucky beans. Love the cow aspect of the post.
