Bill Begun

Been sewing and sewing and sewing these evenings. Possibly my way of superstitiously trying to ward off more unhappy news (though this morning I learned of a dear sweet lady who is back in the hospital with blood clots just two weeks after burying her son). I am about halfway through getting the almost Amish basket blocks together. As a leader-ender project, I've been making four patch blocks out of some batik strips that Amy sent me. And, happily, I decided I've fondled the William Morris FQs from my February birthday long enough and have begun making blocks from them!

Tomorrow mid-day Honna and I and eight others are leaving with Featherweight and Bernina respectively for a weekend at White Oak. I have two kits made up to get my teal and brown star blocks made. I have a sample strip to buy fabric to make the binding for Like Water for Chocolate. I have fabrics and a pattern to make my main gift for my SSCS. I have a few other things. Just a few!
We're going to have lunch at my house and then head West. Honna needs to stop at Sauder's.

And we certainly are going to have to go one of my favorite new places, the Log Cabin Quilt Shop in Bird in Hand. Remember the place there just past the bridge that used to have those amazing green rulers? It may have been called the Bird In Hand Quilt Shop? That didn't have a bathroom but had great fabrics you couldn't find anywhere else? And it closed (although it may have reopened down the road further). Well this new place -- it doesn't have a website -- is in that location; the address is 2679 Old Philadelphia Pike. I don't know whether it has a bathroom yet, but the farmers' market is across the street and has one (and also has amazing cinnamon buns and other delights). The Log Cabin Quilt Shop has gorgeous fabrics, but what really draws me there is the way the owner puts FQ packs together. She's really got a gift. Prepare for interesting photos upon my return!

While you are "out and about", Weaver's Dry Goods near Brickerville has great prices and Burkholder's (off 897) has a great selection of fabric AND you get a 12% discount if you are a member of a guild or quilting group.

Have fun!!

Hi Nancy.....How are you? I am going to get "it" together one of these days and get to that fabric store on Old Philadelphia Pike... Did I answer your question about your comment regarding the apron. No, I didn't make the apron. All the pictures are of a gift bag swap....I sent "Jeannie" the red/blk/wht collection and she sent me the bag with all the "stuff"...one of which was the apron....isn't it just gorgeous...picture doesn't do it justice....
