The Quilting Continuum: Two More Thoughts

Conversations today on the recent post about The Quilting Continuum have yielded two more thoughts:

1. For me, and for some others, quilting is not about the destination. It is about the journey.

2. With the price of fabric anymore, intricate projects that take a long time make a lot of sense!

This is really an interesting topic. I always felt a bit put-off by quilters who called themselves "fabric artists" as though they felt the need to distinguish themselves from "lowly" quilters. I think all quilters are "fabric artists". I do find that I agree with Gretchen though. Sometimes I need to put together utilitarian quilts - my son and the cats destroy quilts - but my favorites are the ones that I put time and love into ... how much time - who knows and I don't care - it's the process that counts for me.

Beautifully said. I pray whenever I go to cut a piece of fabric.

I received my wonderful pattern last night and I can not wait to go shopping for it!!! Thank you from the very bottom of my heart! It means a lot to me.

I think fabric artist connotes a person who may do quilts but also does other stuff with fabric, and it isn't necessarily quilted. I don't think it necessarily means any ranking.
