Holiday Stress

My story may be unique, but it isn't that different from many others. Maybe not different even from yours. A story of holiday stress. In abundance.

The list of tasks is long -- the rest of the shopping, the wrapping, the baking; the cards, the rest of the decorating (if there is to be any), the getting the guest room ready; the calendar.

Superimposed on seasonal stress are unexpected and difficult events at work. And economic worries for Joe.

And night before last my dear cousin's dear husband passed away suddenly. Such sadness at such a beautiful time of year.

I've been too busy to write, too busy even to read the other blogs. But this morning I snatched a couple of moments and went to Tanya's blog where her story brought some much-needed tears.

And then a smile.

I think you would like to read it, too.

I'm glad you were able to find a tearful catharsis this morning. "Holding up" is so stressful that sometimes we need permission, or an excuse at least, to open those flood gates. You and your family will be in my prayers.

I can almost hear all the prayers whizzing by as we pray for each other during this season. I know you have for me, I will for you too!!

It is unfortunate but many people in Japan pull a pun on the word Christmas and apply the Japanese word "kurushimimasu" which means trouble and suffering. Sometimes I have to remind myself that this is not a time of 'busy' but a time of 'peace'. I'm trying to keep down on holiday stress too.

Blessings on you and your cousins and family. Give your husband an extra hug.
