Rugs for Mugs

Yesterday I made a couple of mug rugs for people at work.

One is for the art teacher, who is retiring. She has always been interested in my quilting and very encouraging and supportive. I'll miss her cheerful, goofy presence.

The other is for a colleague who is taking on a challenging task for the coming year. She just might need that glass of whatever!

Perhaps that art teacher might become a quilter someday?

These mug rugs make a delightful gift. They are such fun to make from scraps, but provide satisfaction 'way beyond their level of difficulty and time to make. My Nancy creation has garnered more compliments over the past several months than I can count, and it just makes me smile every morning when I park my mug on it. The very best thing is that it came with lots of love and good wishes.

My mug rug sits by my computer where I usually keep a glass of juice or mug of water. Reminds me daily of a special lady I know somewhere near Philadelphia. : )

My first mug rug came from you. I have since made two and bought one at an art quilt show. I use mine all the time and am making more for gifts. See what you started here?
